Zetec N/A 200BHP
This is a guide to tuning a 2.0 zetec to around 200BHP
To acheive this on a zetec engine the best way to go about it is to focus mainy on the head. Increasing the airflow and a set of good cams will help in achieving this.
To do this you are going to need:
Head work costing around £300-1300 price varies depending on what you have done
Cam belt kit costing around £65.00
A set of uprated cams costing around £400-600
You might be able to source some of these parts from other well know website second hand for a cheap price but becareful with what you buy.
- Step 1
Remove the cam cover by undoing the bolts securing it. - Step 2
Remove the head bolts following the correct sequence. - Step 3
The head work you need carrying out is a specialist job and is not something you can do in you shed with a dremel! So its best to send it away. To maximise flow we would recommend matching the inlet manifold to the head. When you send the head off to be worked on you should send the cams that way it can all be worked on together to give you the full potential. - Stage 5
To give you something to do while the head is away you can prepare the block ready for a new gasket and the arrive of the head. to do this you need to remove the head gasket and give it a good clean with an emery cloth(remember you don't want to scratch the deck face), and white spirit. Have a look to see if there is scoring or the deck face is true otherwise your'll have trouble sealing the gasket if its damaged. - Stage 6
Check the gasket is the right size to match the compression ratio you want. - Stage 7
So the valves have enough clearance temporarily fit the cam belt pulley and have it rotated the crank until No.1 piston is around half way down the bore. - Stage 8
Fit the valves into the head. Then refit the head by useing the guide studs. Fit new head bolts because the old ones may of stretched. When you refit them don't oil the threads and tighten them up to finger tight. - Stage 9
Tighten the bolts carfully, useing the sequence from Stage 2 but in reverse. - Stage 10
Before installing the followers make sure you have lubricated them. and put them back into their alloted places.(make sure you use new oil. - Stage 11
Again lubricate the cams really well and position them. Tighten the cam caps to finger tight. Now check the rear cam caps are the same way around.
This is still being updated so please revisit soon pic on there way.
